Researchers from MIT developed a new technology to capture carbon dioxide

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States has worked on a project and developed a new technology that can capture Carbon Dioxide from the air around, which will, in turn help to reduce the Green-House gas levels in the atmosphere. The researchers from MIT have developed this technology in such a way that it does not requires high concentration instead it can now be captured at any concentration. This technology is considered as a great strategy to fight greenhouse gas in the atmosphere. The device they developed consist of large batteries having a stack of electrodes in it, which absorbs the CO2  from the surrounding air. They noted and told in there study that the reaction taking place on the surface of the electrodes while the batteries are being charged up accumulates carbon, and a coating in the electrodes is formed with a compound called polyanthraquinone which contains carbon. The researcher also said that using this method will be very efficient as the amount of energy use to accumulate one ton of carbon dioxide is very less.
