PM calls for comprehensive approach to prevent a climate crisis

To stop the climate crisis, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a universal approach during his speech at the United Nations Climate Change Summit in New York. He informed the leaders of various nations about India's initiative to ban the use of single-use plastic and asked the leaders to do the same. He also conveyed that India is laying out 50 billion dollars in the next five years for water conservation. PM Modi also attended the High-level meeting on Health coverage where he highlighted the steps taken by India to achieve Universal Health Coverage, including the launch of Ayushman Bharat scheme.


Family pension for Central government employee dying within seven years of service hiked from 30% to 50%

The government has amended Rule 64 of the Central Services (Pension) Rules, 1972 that in case of death of a central government employee within seven years of his joining the family of the deceased will now be eligible for pension at the rate of 50% of last pay drawn for ten years. The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions said that the need is more for the family pension to those government servants who die early in their career, as the pay at the initial phase of service is much less.


Korea Open Badminton tournament begins

The Korea Open badminton tournament begins at Incheon. World champion PV Sindhu will restart her hunt for a BWF World Tour title this season at the event. PV Sindhu will face USA's Beiwen at Zhang while Saina Nehwal will face Korean Kim Ga Eun at Incheon. In men's singles. B Sai Praneeth will face Anders Antonsen of Denmark while Parupalli Kashyap will take on a qualifier.
