Prime Minister Modi on a Seven-Day Visit to the US

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the United States for seven days. On September 22, PM Modi will attend the "Howdy, Modi" event at NRG Stadium in Houston. PM Modi will address a gathering of close to 50,000 people at the event. On September 23, PM Narendra Modi will address the Climate Action Summit hosted by UN Secretary-General (UNSG) Antonio Guterres. On September 24, PM Modi will co-chair the India-Pacific island states leaders meet which will be followed by lunch hosted by the UNSG. On September 25, Prime Minister will chair the Bloomberg Business forum followed by a conversation with Mr. Bloomberg. On September 26, a number of Bilateral Meetings are scheduled. During the visit, he will address the United Nations General Assembly on 27th September 2019. He will also be honoured with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s Global Goalkeeper’s Award for his Swachh Bharat Campaign to promote sanitation.

Government reduces Corporate Tax to 22% for Domestic Companies

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman declared annex of a new provision in the Income Tax Act that gives an option to a domestic company to pay income tax at 22% rate if they are not benefiting any exemption/incentive. “The tax relief is part of steps the government has been announcing after consultations with the industry, on a weekly basis, to deal with the slowdown,” Minister Sitharaman said. The provision will be taken into action from the current Financial year.

55th ITEC Day celebrated in Dhaka

The 55th Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day was celebrated at the High Commission of India in Dhaka Bangladesh yesterday. Under this programme, over 4,000 young Bangladeshi professionals have endured specialized medium and short term courses in India since 2007. ITEC was formed in 1964 to impart development assistance to developing countries.
