Prime Minister Modi holds bilateral talks with various National Leaders
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, and the two leaders announced their zero-tolerance towards terrorism. PM Modi also met PM of Bhutan Dr. Lotay Tshering and embraced Bhutan to get along for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) as a founding member. A bilateral meeting was organized with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades on the sidelines of the High-Level Segment of the 74th UN General Assembly session. On the issues starting from cooperation in terrorism, support for India's candidature for a permanent UN Security Council seat, defence and cyber security, PM Modi held talks with his counterparts from Armenia and New Zealand.
20 countries sign agreement to prevent the spread of fake news online
Twenty countries, including South Africa, France, Canada, Britain, and India, have subscribed to an agreement to crimp the broadcast of fake news online. The agreement stated that it is the responsibility of internet providers to promote legit information on the World Wide Web. According to the latest news, Twitter had banned more than 1000 accounts in the 3rd week of September for promoting wrong content. “The emergence of a global digital space is shaking up the world of information, bringing with it progress as well as risks” - said French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.
China, Kiribati initiates diplomatic relations
Kiribati President Taneti Mamau and Chinese Foreign minister Wang Yi collaborated and signed a joint declaration to initiate diplomatic relations between the two countries in pursuit of the UN climate summit. Kiribati had severed ties with Taiwan after a week when the Solomon Islands also severed ties with Taiwan.
