New Governors appointed by the President of India

The President of India Ramnath Kovind has recently appointed Girish Chandra Murmu as Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Radha Krishna Mathur as Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Mr P.S. Sreedharan Pillai as the Governor of Mizoram and Satya Pal Malik as the Governor of Goa. Girish Chandra Murmu was the Expenditure Secretary earlier whereas R K Mathur is a former Chief Information Commissioner. S P Malik was the governor of Jammu and Kashmir before. J&k and Ladakh has been converted to two separate Union Territories after the revocation of Article 370 which will be in affect from 31st October 2019.

Cadre Review for ITBP Approved

The Union Cabinet of India has announced the approval of the full cadre review of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). The cadre review was last performed in 2001 and since then it has been pending for 18 years. The Cabinet headed by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi took the decision for the cadre review of Group ‘A’ General Duty (Executive) Cadre and Non-General Duty Cadre of the ITBP. In 2001, the strength of the police force was approximately 32,000 and now the number is expected to increase to 90,000. The main motive of Cadre Review is to create new posts which in return will help to increase the efficiency and working of the officials of ITBP. The ITBP guards an area of 3,488 km of India-China Border. This time structuring of two new commands: Western Command at Chandigarh and Eastern Command at Guwahati is also planned for guarding the border.

Indian Railways launches ATVM to fight festive rush

Indian Railways recently took an initiative to fight the festive rush for ticket dispensing by launching a total of 92 One Touch Automatic Ticket Vending Machine (ATVM) at 42 most busy station of Central Railway. The machine is made as such that it will be helping millions of commuters travelling around Mumbai Suburban. The initiative taken will reduce the waiting time of the passengers standing in long queues. The Machine is made user friendly and following totally uncomplicated procedures will help the passenger to easily buy the tickets.
