Government raises MSP of Rabi Crops for 2020-21



The Government of India gave the farmers big good news as they increased the MSP (Minimum Support Price) on Rabi Crops from 50% to 109% for the market session 2020-21. This is a big decision for the farmers as it will increase their income significantly. A special meeting was arranged by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Following are the list of crops whose MSP has been increased for the Market Session 2020-21 :

WHEAT : Increment: Rs. 85/quintal, New MSP: Rs. 1925/quintal.

GRAM: Increment: Rs. 255/quintal, New MSP: Rs. 4875/quintal.

BARLEY: Increment: Rs. 85/quintal, New MSP: Rs. 1525/quintal.

MUSTARD OIL: Increment: Rs. 225/quintal, New MSP: Rs. 4425/quintal.

SAFFLOWER: Increment: Rs. 270/quintal, New MSP: Rs. 5215/quintal.

LENTIL: Increment: Rs. 325/quintal, New MSP: Rs. 4800/quintal.

World Bank releases Doing Business Report 2020



Recently World Bank has released a list of countries with their respective ranks. The ranks are allotted to the countries based on the Ease of Doing Business for the year 2020. India proudly has moved up in the list as earlier India’s was on 77th position among 190 countries, and this time with a difference of 14 places, it has moved to 63rd position. India is also among the top ten countries that have shown drastic improvement in their positions. The key areas in which India has improved are as follows :

Resolving Insolvency.

Dealing with Construction Permits

Registering Property.

Trading across Borders.

Paying Taxes.

Merger of BSNL and MTNL



The government of India has recently declared news regarding the merger of the two largest Telecom Public Sector Units MTNL and BSNL, which are in a huge loss. The decision has been taken to revive the losses which both the units are bearing. The revival package also includes monetizing assets worth Rs. 15,000 crore, voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) for the employees and raising sovereign bonds worth Rs. 38,000 crore.
