Sri Lanka out of the grey list now: FATF

Financial Action Task Force (FATF) monitored the island nation and removed Sri Lanka from the grey list of countries as the nation took measures on financial security. Sri Lanka was declared as a cooperating state in 2016, while in 2017, it was put on a grey list. The nation has started the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) programme and has stopped the terror funding by CFT (Countering Financing Terrorism Act). FATF had a five day plenary in Paris where this decision was announced, saying that the nation has made significant progress in AML and CFT. FATF was established in 1989 with a motive to fight against money laundering, terror funding, and other threats related to the integrity of international financial system. Pakistan is still on the list and has received a warning to stop.

DNA Technology Regulation Bill referred to a parliamentary standing committee

The government has referred the DNA Technology Regulation Bill to a parliamentary standing committee on Science and Technology, Environment and Forests. The Bill states the regulations to use DNA technology for the identification of a person. The government wants the bill to be examined thoroughly by the committee. The bill was passed by the Lok Sabha in July this year. Chairman of the Rajya Sabha M Venkiah Naidu referred the bill to the standing committee. The bill also provides the establishment of DNA data banks at the National and regional level.

Kalidas Karmakar : Famous painter, passes away

One of the renowned painter Kalidas Karmakar from Bangladesh took his last breath in Dhaka. Kalidas was honored with Shilpakala Padak in 2016 and the Ekushey Padak in 2018. The legendary painter was born on 10th January 1946 and completed his graduation from Kolkata in 1969. His work was so famous that solo exhibitions were organized in many countries, including US, Japan, Iran and Hong Kong. The famous artist use to make installation work using wood, brass, utensils and many more. His art style in which he had his perfection was known as alluvial art, which showcases the art of delta land expressing the nature of precious, its people, their struggles and hopes.
