Office of CJI now comes under the ambit of RTI Act

A Constitutional panel of five judges headed by Chief Justice of India has stated that “the Office of Chief Justice of India is an Office of the Public Authority which should come under the ambit of Right to Information Act (RTI) 2005. The panel agreed in the principle to share information but on a case-to-case basis and subject to RTI safeguards. Justice Sanjiv Khanna read the verdict in which he said, “independence and accountability go hand in hand and that independence of the judiciary cannot be ensured only by denying information.” The verdict also noted that judicial independence should remain intact while disclosing the facts about the CJI’s office.

India to host 19th Council of Heads of Governments of SCO in 2020

The 19^th Council of Heads of Governments of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is going to be hosted by India in New Delhi in 2020. India, along with its neighbouring country Pakistan, was added to the list of Members of SCO in 2017. This year the summit was hosted by Uzbekistan at the nation's capital Tashkent, and the Defence Minister of India Rajnath Singh represented the nation. The Council Heads of Government of SCO is a group of selected nations having common issues regarding Security, Economics, and Politics. The Headquarter of SCO is situated in Beijing, China and consists of 8 countries: India, Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan.

Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah secured 1st position in ICC ODI player rankings

Indian Cricket Captain Virat Kohli again reached the top position of a batsman in the latest ODI player ranking given by the International Cricket Council (ICC), followed by batsman Rohit Sharma.
