Swachh-Nirmal Tat Abhiyaan

A mass cleanliness-cum-awareness drive in 50 identified beaches of 10 coatel states and Union Territories under the programme called ‘Swachh- Nirmal Tat Abhiyaan’ has been undertaken by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC). The abhiyan has been started from 11th November 2019 and will continue till 17th November 2019. the motive behind this abhiyan is to make coastal areas across country clean, and to create awareness amongst citizens about the importance of coastal ecosystems so as to save marine creatures from plastic waste, industrial effluents and other harmful substances. The ten Costal states and UTs are Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Pondicherry, Gujarat, and Daman & Diu. Society of Integrated Coastal Management (SICOM) and Environment Education Division of the MoEFCC have been appointed responsible for the overall coordination for drive in 50 beaches.

Justice A P Sahi sworn in as the new Chief Justice of Madras HC

The new Chief Justice of Madras High Court has been appointed by the the Madras Governor Banwarlilal Purohit. Justice Amreshwar Pratap Sahi took the oathin the administration of  the Governor at the Raj Bhavan. Prior to his appointment Justice Sahi served as the Chief Justice of Patna High Court. At the Oath taking Ceremony many senior officials including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court Vineet Kothari, judges from the Madras High Court, members of the Council of Ministers, Chief Secretary K. Shanmugam attended the ceremony.

Govt. approves setting up of four “Medical Device Park” in South Indian states

The Government of India has recently approved the initiative to setup four Medical Device Parks with a motive to support the Make in India Programme and provide first class products at affordable prices for the treatment. The four parks has been decided to be set up in the southern states namely : Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Tamil Nadu and Kerela. These parks are going to provide necessary infrastructure where the Pharmaceutical companies can easily put up their equipment.
