PM Modi calls for creation of global water action agenda


 

During CoP 14 to UNCCD, Indian PM called for the creation of a global water action agenda which is central to the Land Degradation Neutrality strategy. He also called for greater south-south cooperation in addressing climate change, biodiversity, and land degradation. India will raise the target of restoring the land with degraded status from 21 million hectares to 26 million by 2030. PM Modi told the audience that apart from having adverse health implications, plastic makes land unfit for agriculture, so the time of single-use plastic has come to an end for the world. He also guaranteed about India's commitment towards the development of environment-friendly substitutes of plastic. 


PM Modi, Nepal PM to jointly inaugurate Moithari-Amlekhganj cross border petroleum pipeline




 


PM Modi and his Nepalese counterpart will jointly inaugurate Motihari-Amlekhganj cross border petroleum products pipeline through video conference. This is the first transnational petroleum pipeline from India and the first South Asian oil pipeline corridor. PM Modi announced that the first cross-border petroleum products pipeline will start from Motihari in India to Amlekhgunj in Nepal, it will be approximately 69-km long having a capacity of 2 million metric ton per annum which would provide cleaner petroleum products at affordable rates and will reduce the retail oil price by Rs.2 for the people of Nepal. 



Multilingual Mobile App launched for farmers



 


Minister of State for Agriculture launched a multilingual Mobile App “CHC Farm Machinery” that will connect farmers with customer hiring service centers (CHC). The farmers will get access to the cutting edge technologies through these CHC located within 50 km radius. Farmers can download this mobile app on any android phone from Google Play Store and can get easy and affordable access to best technology at their doorsteps.
