Bianca Andreescu clinches US Open women’s singles title

The 19-year old Bianca became the first Canadian singles player to win a Grand Slam Event. She defeated Serena Williams 6-3, 7-5 to win the title. Bianca Andreescu also became the first teen US Open semi-finalist in a decade. The United States Open Tennis Championships is a hard court tennis tournament. The tournament is the modern version of one of the oldest tennis championships in the world, the U.S. National Championship, for which men’s singles and men’s doubles were first played in 1881.

Government to spend 3.5 lakh crore rupees in next five years on Jal Jeevan Mission

 

 

The central government will spend Rs. 3.5 lakh crore in the next five years on Jal Jeevan Mission. The mission has been launched to ensure ease of accessibility to water. The mission aims at saving water and delivering water at every doorstep. Mr Modi said that women are playing a vital role in the development of the country and pointed out that due to the SHGs, women are becoming financially independent that will help the country to become strong. He expressed the need to make the SHG movement more powerful in the country.

 

Rafael Nadal advances to US Open semi-finals

 

 


Spanish Tennis Player Rafael Nadal advanced to the semi-finals of the US Open by defeating Argentine player Diego Schwartzman with 6-4, 7-5, and 6-2. Rafael Nadal perspired so much during his quarterfinal match with Diego Schwartzman, that it looked like he had jumped into a swimming pool with his tennis kit on.
