RBI made available bi-monthly monetary policy statement



In the 4th bi-monthly monetary policy statement, RBI decreased the repo rate by 25 bps to 5.15% in accordance with which the reverse repo rate has been reduced to 4.9 %. RBI has done this consecutively for the 5th time in 2019. This time in the current fiscal year 2019-20, RBI has revised the GDP growth from 6.9% to 6.1%, and for the year 2020-21 to 7.2% to achieve the CPI inflation target from 3.5% to 4%. The policy has been announced by unanimous voting by the Monetary Policy Committee headed by the RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das along with six members on 4th October 2019 in a day long meeting. The key points discussed in the meeting are as follows:

Repo rate and reverse repo rate.

GDP growth forecast.

CPI inflation target.

Weak rural and urban demand.

Loss in global economic momentum.

Surplus liquidity.

Agriculture.


UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express



Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express on Friday 4th October 2019,  India’s first private train under the subsidiary of IRCTC running between Lucknow and Delhi every day except on Tuesdays which will be allotted for the maintenance and servicing. The travel time between the two cities by fastest train Swarna Shatabdi was six hours and 40 minutes, but Tejas Express will reduce it to six hours and 15 minutes. Tejas Express will depart from Lucknow at 6:10 AM and reach New Delhi at 12:25 PM and for the return journey it will depart at 3:35 PM and reach the destination at 10:05 PM having only two halt stations at Kanpur and Ghaziabad. The train also provides special facilities such as the passenger will be paid on hourly basis if it reaches late and afree insurance of Rs 25 lakh. Tejas Express will have dynamic fares of which the costliest fare till now is Rs 4,325, and the regular fare for the passenger is Rs 1280 for AC chair car and Rs 2450 for executive chair car.


International Chess Federation releases the world rankings

 

 

 

International Chess Federation released a list of the best chess players from all over the world according to their respective ranks. In the women category, Indian champion Koneru Humpy uplifted her ranking to the third position whereas Viswanathan Anand is on the 9th place in the standard top 100 players till October 2019. Out of the Standard top 100 players five players from India have grabbed a place at 9th, 18th, 31st, 63rd, and 89th position. Koneru Humpy has grabbed 17 ELO points to achieve the third position with a global rating of 2,577 while Hou Yifan and Ju Wenjun from China have placed at the top two positions in the ranking list.
