Nation pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversary
PM Modi visited Sabarmati Ashram and declared the country open defecation free along with more than 20,000 village reins. He also launched a book on the occasion titled ‘My Life is My Message.’ To mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and to spread his messages, Commemorative Postal Stamps and Coins were also released. To commemorate the birth anniversary, Government has constituted a National Committee headed by the President of India including the Vice President, Prime Minister, Chief Ministers of all states, Celebrities, volunteers from across the country, the followers of Gandhi and many more along with an Executive Committee (EC) of 19 participants which is headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which would make the necessary policies and guidelines and plant different events for the same. PM Modi also offered floral tributes while he visited the Samadhi of Lal Bahadur Shastri. Under the leadership of Lal Bahadur Shastri, he accomplished to conclude India-Pakistan 1965 war with India’s win. Kayastha Mahasabha celebrated the birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri at Shastri Park (Sigra) where all the heads of All India Kayastha Sabha were present including Mahesh Chand Srivastava (regional president BJP).
Indian Embassy to set up an exhibition on the mutual influence of Gandhi, Tolstoy in Moscow
Indian Embassy, along with Russian state Duma set up an exhibition on the mutual influences of Leo Tolstoy and Mahatma Gandhi on each other, on the occasion of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Prakash Javadekar (Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change) inaugurated this exhibition where Local Duma member, Director of Tolstoy Cultural Centre, Natalia Pilyus, and over 100 participating students at the Cultural Club of Tolstoy Estate. The exhibition showcases Tolstoy’s bread labour and Gandhiji’s Satyagraha and their thinking to make the world better with the understanding of love, truth, and kindness. A special seminar, to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi was also organised by a Minister who was on a Russian visit to attend a cooperative meeting.
Avinash Sable reaches 3000m steeplechase final
In the category of track events in the IAAF World Athletics Championships 2019, Avinash Sable made out to be the first Indian man to qualify for finals. He crossed his own national record at the championship in Doha as he finished 3 seconds faster with a record time of 8:25:23 than his previous best score of 8:28:94 and qualified for the final, which is going to held on 4th October 2019. Annu Rani, in javelin throw event, was also the first woman to enter the finals and finished at 8th position. her personal best score in javelin throw is 62.43m creating a National Record and this time in the Championship finals, her maximum throw was 61.12m.
