35th ASEAN Summit in Bangkok, Thailand



Bangkok - Thailand is hosting the 35th ASEAN Summit and has inaugurated the event on 31st October 2019, where Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O-Cha inaugurated the summit at the IMPACT convention complex. ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) is basically a group of ten participating countries who work on building economic, social and political cooperation in the region. This summit will last for five days, during which East Asia Summit (EAS) and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Summit (RCEP) will also take place simultaneously. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the summit on 3rd and 4th November 2019 to discuss the various issues related to politics, economy, security, etc.

‘Dharma Guardian’ 2019 - bilateral joint military exercise



India and Japan are over with their second edition of the annual joint military exercise named “Dharma Guardian 2019”. The exercise was jointly organized by the armies of both the nations at the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS) Vairengte in Mizoram. The Joint Drill was headed by General Goro Yuasa, Chief of Staff, Japanese Ground Self Defence Forces and Lieutenant General Rajeev Sirohi, GOC, 3 Corps of Indian Army. The motive of this exercise was to train the military force in the mountain terrain to counter-terrorism and insurgency as they were provided with necessary theoretical lectures, demonstrations and practical knowledge. Armies of both the nation will also share their experiences in facing such issues and will be practicing for accomplishing joint operations.

Two new countries sign the ISA Framework Agreement



Eritrea and Saint Kitts &Nevis recently signed the International Solar Alliance's (ISA) Framework Agreement at its second Assembly in the national capital on 31st October 2019, increasing the strength of the membership body to 83 countries in total. ISA was hosted by The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) headed by the R K Singh (Minister of MNRE). Singh emphasized the need for increasing usage of solar energy and is very important in view of the climate change face globally. He also explained the steps and initiatives started by India for the support of ISA.
