The lockdown 2.0 was announced on 14th April by PM Modi which will remain in force till May 3 in the wake of COVID-19. Keeping in mind the plight of working class and farmers, the government has allowed relaxations in the areas having no hotspots subjected to certain conditions.
The government issued guidelines consisting of a list of activities that have been allowed during lockdown for areas not marked as containment zones. The list of exempted areas includes:
1. Poultry farms, livestock farming activity
2. Food processing industries in rural areas
3. Operation of fishing aquaculture industry
4. Operations of Sea Ports and Inland Container Depots for cargo transport
5. Tea, coffee and rubber plantations with not more than 50% workers.
6. IT and ITeS can resume operations with up to 50% strength
5. Manufacturing of IT hardware
6. Coal production
7. Mines and Mineral production
8. Manufacturing units of packaging material
9. Services offered by self-employed persons like plumbers, mechanics, carpenters, etc.
10. Courier Services, cold storage, private security services, etc.
The government had previously identified 107 districts as hotspots and 207 as non-hotspots. The third category is green zone where no fresh cases have been reported.
